Where should bioeconomy innovation go next? Insights from C4B Experts

C4B has identified and ranked key Research & Innovation (R&I) priorities to strengthen and scale Europe’s bioeconomy.

Developed through a multi-actor co-creation process involving primary producers, researchers, clusters and industry representatives, these priorities reflect real bottlenecks across agricultural and forestry value chains.

Structured around three strategic clusters, Infrastructure & Technologies, Supply Chains & Processes, and Governance & Capacity-Building , the results highlight the technological, operational and governance transformations needed to build fair, resilient and competitive bio-based value chains.

These insights will also guide the upcoming C4B Open Calls 2026, supporting third-party use cases across Europe.
